In collaboration with the Czech lighting manufacturer LASVIT, who have inherited the traditional craft of Bohemian glassmaking, KKAA developed a technique for precisely imprinting the texture of burnt cedarwood onto glass surfaces. Using this technique, which involves pressing high-temperature hand-blown glass onto the wood, KKAA designed lighting fixtures as well as glass cups. Ever since I came across Gaudi’s iron fence made using casts of palm leaves, I have had a growing interest in the idea of directly taking casts of natural materials.
