Exhibition model, KODAMA

KKAA designed KODAMA, a timber pavilion, in the forest of Arte Sella, a mecca for environmental artworks in Italy (2018). Based on an initial metal model that was made in Japan using a laser cutter, the local carpenters used a CNC machine to mill the timber boards. This was done with a high level of precision, enabling strong joints to be formed. Although only one type of joint was used, KKAA were able to achieve a dome-like form by varying the length of the boards.
